thanks for the info....a sigh of relief for me. I am going to expand the firewall by a half an inch on the bottom and sides, because there is room for that. The blind nuts on the back of the firewall might need some tender loving care to figure out but I will make new engine box sides and bottom with 1/8" birch and a new firewall without the v-cutout at the top out of 1/4" birch, After pegging it all together I shouldnt have anything to worry about and not much more weight (a few ounces, but I have some carbon landing gear that have really lightened things up)
