Default RE: Hostetler 33% Decathlon

Fellas,
a couple of days ago, while emailing in private with John Chevalier about Citabrias, he sent me a couple of pics of a 1968 7KCAB 150HP Citabria he owned up to 2 years ago.
I had seen that very plane on Airliners.net and sent him the pic. He immediately reckoned the place as being the Trois Rivieres Quebec Airport where he used to fly.
On Airliners.net there is a remark about the tragic end of this beautiful airplane. John told me about first thing after it happened.

Here's the story:
John sold this Citabria to his friend 2 years ago. This friend, an experienced pilot, who was very happy with it and used to fly it a lot, especially to/from the Trois Rivieres airstrip. Several times he just took off from his home airflied and flew to TR for a quick meal and then back home.
Same on last January 28th, except that on the trip back home he never arrived.
Several hours later, after RCAF sent search and rescue teams, the wreck was found only 5 miles from his private strip, in the middle of the field.
It seems it just went in without any correction or trial to land it. All indicates he must have suffered a heart stroke or any other cause of sudden death, however nothing was determined yet. Weather conditions were fine and so was the plane.

John is now thinking of building a Citabria in that livery as a tribute to his friend.
He authorized me to post the story and the pictures so here they go.

Marcus
