Looking forward to hearing of your experience...do you think a .61 engine is too much for this plane?
Okay, finally got a maiden flight in yesterday. Did 8 or 10 circuits of the field with a couple of Immelmans and initial impressions were very positive. However, I was having trouble with roll trim as it kept changing. Decided to land and check things out after full left trim was needed to fly reasonably level. Discovered the two outer ca hinges on the right aileron had come loose and the surface was barely hanging on. It appeared that the ca had not wicked to the aileron, but the hinge was securely attached to the wing. And yes I had administered the PULL test. These are factory installed hinges.

Performance with the K&B .61 and 11x7-1/2 was hot! I replaced the wheels with larger ones for more ground clearance and will try a 12x5 next. A good ball bearing .46 should be a good match for this plane, but I wanted more vertical and the .61 has been zip-locked since trying to eat my finger two years ago.

Removing the dihedral had no ill effects, and though the plane seemed stable, I really didn't do much with it. Tomorrow and Saturday look like good weather so I'm looking forward to more flights.
