Yea .. it sounds like a bearing moved, or failed, or sumpthin'! I don't like what you said about the "tick" in the motor. Although I am not familiar with the Astro motors, all brushless motors have nothing that contacts / touches / rubs against the stator or rotor. With the exception of the bearings, and most are ball raced bearings. My best guess (and it IS a guess) is that there was a defective ball bearing with a nick in a ball or a race, that failed during the first flight.
