I'm not sure if you're having the beginnings of the same problem as RotorWing, but check out this link below to another Astroflight situation. Read the first and seventh post particularly.

Also ... I wonder if when the "brake comes on" there are any funny scraping / squeaking / grinding noises?? The motor may be getting ready to throw a bearing, or loose a magnet ?!?

Come to think of it, there were problems a year or less ago with some of the Phoenix ESC's, and I recollect the 35's, but to the best of my knowledge, that has been resolved for 6 months or so. It bothers me, though, to think of how many of these problem components get lost on the back of the shelf in the LHS, or a distributor, and resurface later to haunt us ?!?!?!?
