Either way, 4-5MHz is an awful long way to pull a 35/40Mhz receiver or transmitter without modifications to the circuitry.
It's pretty easy to be fooled by what appears to be a peak in the receiver or transmitter's tuning but which actually turns out to be simply the point where a front-end or transmitter circuit's coil reaches maximum (but not optimum) inductance.
If Mossie's problems persist then I'd like to have a look at his gear and see if it's just a bad case of trying to pull from 36 to 40 or vice versa.
I decided to stick with 72Mhz because I knew that's the way they'd be coming from the factory for the US marketplace -- plus it gave me the versatility of using the Spectra module.
