Default RE: Climbing Spin!

CougaRules, a rear CG does help. But you will also need plenty of power, and lots of elevator and rudder throw. I prefer to have enuff aileron throw that it will snap out of a flat spin when you feed in too much.

I have not flown the Cougar so here are some general tips.

Upright flat spin, gain some altiude, stall the plane, go full left rudder and aileron and full up elevator. Start adding power and at the same time roll the aileron stick over to the right. The plane will start flattening out and if you have enuff aileron throw at some point it will snap out of the spin, that just means you went too far.

Inverted flat spin, gain some altitude, stall the plane, go full right rudder, full left aileron and full down elevator. Start adding power and roll the aileron stick to the right. Same as above

On some planes there is a point in bringing the ailerons over just before it snaps out that the plane will actually start to climb, if everything else is right.

Flatspins can be entered several different ways, not just from a stall. Try it from a vertical upline. 45 degree upline ending in a snap to a flat spin, etc, the possibilities are endless.

Some folks and some planes have a hard time coming out of a flat spin, so to start with come out high. I like to neutral the ailerons and rudder and fly out. Some folks chop power, neutral all the controls and maybe even feed in a little reverse rudder, let the nose drop to build some speed and then fly out.

I don't know how it works but some planes are capable of a beautiful inverted flat spin using the following. Full right rudder, full left aileron, and full up elevator (yes I typed full up elevator). Start feeding in the power and cross the aileron over. Perfect hold in one place inverted flat spin and by jockying the controls around a little bit it might just climb. The H9 Pizzaz was like this. Somebody care to explain this one?

Like I typed these are some general tips, hopefully someone can list out exactly what you need to do for this particular plane.
