As a general statement, AM is no more suceptable to interferance than FM is, both will respond to different types of interferance in a different manner. The problem is that most AM receivers in the less expensive RC field are single conversion types which make them suceptable to third order harmonic distortion. A dual conversion AM unit is as good as any FM unit for most types of interferance and better than an FM single conversion reciever. Bottom line, you can get good results with either type if you buy top of the line. And, yes, they still are manufacturing both types. If I had a choice, I'd take FM but there are good AM units out there. You might want to check out
