You have been given some sound advise by the members here. If the club is not an AMA chartered club there is no requirement for them to follow AMA rules. As everyone seems to agree it would be wise to adopt some more safety regulations. Being a somewhat crusty and somewhat old fart, I can tell you that it is doubtful that you will get the group that you fly with to make major changes in a short amount of time. If you set a good example and are a good politician gradual improvements over a long period of time are possible.

For several years I flew at an "outlaw" field that sounds much like the field where you fly. If a new guy came to that field and tried to get some safety rules adopted, he would have been told to adapt to the environment or leave. As I look back to that time, hopefully a little wiser now, I have to say that the safe thing to do would be to leave. Hopefully you can find another place to fly where you feel more comfortable.
