Default got one

Well, I have one to put together for another club member. I have assembled a few WM ARF's. Overall, I guess I'm not really impressed. Sure, it has a pretty covering job with no wrinkles, but it takes more than covering to make a good plane. The canopy is really cheap and not color matched well. The grey cockpit/glare shield/dash extends about 1" infront of the canopy, so I'll have to get a roll of covering to fix this mistake. The wings will need to be attached/pinned near the TE as well. The bolts they use are towards the front of the wing, so it pulls the TE away from the fuse. The tali is the big issue...the "removable" stab needs serious work. Very flexible and ARF-ish in the attachment method. I will probably reinforce it and then permantly (epoxy) attach the stabs to add rigidity. Fit and finish around the stab and vertical fin are poor and will need work. Checkerboard paint on the cowl doesn't have straight lines. That's all I have had the time to look at so far. Nothing really major to fix, but overall it's OK. For around $400, you couldn't build a comparable sized Extra. As it stands right now, I would grade it as a C+. With a little work, it looks like it will turn out ok. Sure would like to see a few blenders with the stock mounting system on the tail ! LOL...
