Default RE: great planes cap??

Hi Dan,

The great planes Cap 232 is a great airplane. Depending on the weight of the airplane a good 52 two stroke like the magnum 52 XLS will do the job. I ran my Cap with the Magnum 52 with a 12.25x3.75 prop and I was very happy with it. My plane came out at 5.5 pounds with a fiberglass cowl. The plane will hover, although it will not rocket out of the maneuver with the 52. I repowered this plane with a Magnum 80 four stroke with a 14x4W prop and I am VERY happy with this plane. The magnum 80 pulls it out of a hover with good authority.

My only complaints with the CAP is the size of the ailerons and the dihedral in the wing. The ailerons are too small and the wing dihedral introduces some undesired control coupling in knife edge. In retrospect, I would've built the ailerons larger, at least by 50%, and built the wing without any dihedral. Anyhow, the plane flies great. Just watch for tip stalling when you start slinging the plane around with those huge elevators!

Good luck,
Ken
