Look at this pic. Imagine that the yellow pole is the fuse, and the blue pole is the wing. In this diagram it is obvious that if the Yellow was on top, it would be almost impossible to balance, because tipping either way the slightest amount will cause the yellow pole to flip around to the bottom.
