Ready for the weekend!!!!!!
It was rough. I had so much trouble having this much fun
I flew my Hobbico Spectrum for the first time after putting in a YS .63 in the nose. YEAH BABY!!!!!!!! I had an O.S. 70 in it before and it flew very well. Now with teh YS .63 it flat out screams!!!. Flying straight and level at about 20 feet, WOT I would pull it vertical. Doing rolls it would climb to 1500, 2000 feet. It was going higher then the rockets were going. The YS YANKED the plane off the ground.
My Lucky stick has been my most UNLUCKY plane from the day I brought it home. On its first flight the ali servo melted and locked out all servos. It did a quick half roll onto its back at 3 feet off the runway. I repaired it and replaced the servo. On its second flight the bolt that holds the wheel onto the aluminum gear broke on landing and flipped the plane over again. Repaired again with new bolts all around. On its third flight it hit a rock with the prop and through a prop blade, stalled and snapped onto its back again. I hung the plane up for almost two years. I had it all ready to fly this weekend and was not expecting much from it. Well after 15 flights this weekend I think I will keep it. It does fly very well. Snaps, iverted flight, rolls, knife edge are what it should be. The biggest thing this weekend is it NEVER ended up on its back.
I flew my Global ulimate bipe for the first time. It was a little bit harry of a first take off. It is a HEAVY TOAD of an airplane. THe Magnum .46 has enough power to fly it pretty well. It does have a long take off roll. I had to dial a little bit less throw on it becasue it was way to touchy. It was doing about 2 rolls a second. The vertical is like a typical sport plane. It is a good flying plane. I have olny one problem with it and it is the engine will not go into the mid range with out dieing. I think it is tied to the Magnum Pitts style muffler. It has almost now volume for any type of back pressure. I did have a little problem getting it to run rich enough at the top end too. Any of you know of a better muffler for it??????'
The helicopter flew as they should. No real suprises there.
Bill L Yes the area is open to all. It is about 4 1/2 to 5 hours south south west of Vegas. Not to sure you will want to be on the dry lake bed in a month. It will be some where around 110 degress or so. I have been dowwn there when the temp hit 124 degrees. We did not stay very long.
I think I am going to need some time off to recover from having so much fun. The rest and relaxation was killing me.
Dru.
P.S. After I get teh pics developed I will scan and post them.
