I had to laugh at Rick Pages's story.
Exactly the same scenario happened to me, the examiner cleverly positioned us directly over an unused field for the forced landing. I missed it also............

That was nearly 25 years ago, I still chuckle about it now. The examiner and I have become very good friends and still fly together today. And yes your right, he did it to all his victims.
Passing the test was an extremely satisfying experience for me, but the one thing thats embedded in my mind as the BEST, is my first solo, still brings a tear to my eye.........
