RE: Turbine Starting
I will chime in here, though I am no expert, I have two auto start turbines. Both start in a similar fashion, pretty much automated and hands off. The SJ 1200 begins with the small electric motor which spins the turbine up and then the "PowerMax" ignites. I usually see a small flame for a second or two when this happens, but as soon as the kerosene ignites and the engine stabilizes there is no visible flame. When I first got my turbine I saw more flame on the startup and as it turns out it was getting too much propane (my fault), and after a conversation with Ed and Kevin they corrected my sequence and it goes much smoother now for me. One of my friends had a T-500 which is very similar to my 750 and 1200. The start takes a minute and is very smooth with no significant visible flame unless you have previously filled the can with fuel in an unsuccessful start. I hope you find what little info I contributed useful, I am sure that more of the seasoned jet jocks could give you more info, but most are probably on their way to Florida Jets. Unfortunately for me, I have to work most of the week.
