RE: Re-use that 40LA from your trainer
Jim,
You said Lanier.I assume you meant the Predator,Dominator and those types.Good idea.I have a Viper with a 46 Pro and it's plenty fast and fun.Mine has the V tail and if your using a computer radio (6XA) you can program "ruddervators" into it and the tail acts somewhat like a rudder for turning left or rite for taxying.I'd never heard the term ruddervators till I got this plane. By holding left or rite and goosing the engine,it will kick around rite or left from the sudden burst of air over the tail. This don't work too well if it's windy because the plane is so lite, but if it's somewhat calm,it works well. This way I don't need a tailwheel which would be a pain on a V tail.
I agree, the LA would move this plane pretty well too as long as you just want a comfy flier without the blistering speed.I like speed too but when I want a good easy flier and somewhat fast,I break out the LA on the Shrike.I'll say this.I got some of those whistles from I4C and even with the LA engine, they sound off perfect. So the LA moves it plenty fast enough to sound off.
