The only thing I'd suggest is not to use the alligator clips to connect the panel to the battery.

They will inadvertantly fall off, or at best, provide a bad connection over time.

Use bolts and nuts, with crimp-on lugs (soldered if possible) to secure the panel wires to the battery.

And "YES", you can charge through the starter jacks
