Default Balsa USA Eindecker 90

I built this kit a couple of years ago. My Eindecker is a lot of fun, but easy to fly and a very intersting modeling subject. It can do basic aerobatics or can float by real slow if you want. I power it with an OS 91 four stroke and that is a good match with a 15 or 16 inch prop. I'm currently using a 15x6 APC prop. I covered mine in Worldtex "antique" fabric and I have functional wing rigging with turnbuckles for reinforcement of the wing. You can see it at http://www.bealmear.com/dawn_patrol/photos.htm

The instructions for this kit are decent. Go for the scale landing gear and don't be afraid of there recommendation on CG. They make it sound like the plane will fall out of the sky if you don't get the CG EXACTLY at the spec. That caused me to add a ton of ballast, which hurt performance. I have since incrementally reduced ballast with no ill effects. The nose moment is so short that the CG only moved back 1/2 inch for dumping almost a pound of lead! Flies much better now with my 91 four stroke. If you haven't used fabric before, it is much easier to use than monokote and looks way better. Fabric tip: clear coat it (use Lustrekote flat clear) to prevent oil and grease from staining the fabric weave.
