The resin should do it. You could try some urathane also. You can get a can of it cheap and some foamy brushes. I have a 9C as well. It most likely will not make you a better pilot. But it will make it simpler to set up a plane. It will also give you some adjustments such as Exponential and mixing that will make the plane smoother and easier to fly. I only use computer radio's. I started to use them way back when I was the oddball. Anyway The 9C is all the radio you will probably ever need. And I will play devil's advocate here, have you looked at the new 7 channel Futaba unit. Nearly as good as the 9C and very attracivly priced. I wish you well whichever way you go.
