Here is a little insight on the innards. One pic shows the application of the gear mount block from the outside and the other is what you would see if you could stick your head into the hole on the firewall. You can see one of the pins that go through the former, through the block itself and finally through an 1/8" X 1" X 2 3/4" beam (missing from the pic). One piece of tri stock from block to inside of former. Now these parts are epoxied together so I don't think it would benefit from re-doing the joints with CA, stick with epoxy. I personally think the engineering is fine, as a matter of fact, I wish just the block would pop out without damaging the former. Perhaps two pieces of tri stock vertically where the former meets the fuse sides. Any attempts to make the block permanent would require the re fitting of 1/4" tee nuts and 1/4" nylon bolts, something has to give. With normal landings the gear was never a problem, and our grass field is a little chunky. Joe
