I didn't say you couldn't, but you put the guy at the field in a tough situation. He wants to guard against the chance that you crash (most people do at one time or another ) and he did not want you to crash at his field. I am simply saying you put the guy in a bad situation: having him help you prep your plane and than getting mad at him when he wanted you to use the buddy box.
