Default RE: To pinch or to Thumb....

If you are supporting the weight of the TX with your hands instead of the neck strap... you'll end up using the thimb on top of the stick almost every time.

The "pinch" method is more precice... and breaking the thumb habit is VERY hard. You have to go back to a trainer to do it even if you are an experienced pilot. It is worth the effort in the long run. (I flew using the thumb method for a LONG time... and am still having problems breaking the habit...)

Best for breaking the thumb habit is to use a transmitter tray to support the TX, having small "shelves" at the side to PREVENT you from putting your hand under the TX. Then stick soda straws on the TX sticks tomake them so long there is no way in heck to get your thumb om top.

At first your flying will suffer from the unfamiliar manner of holding the stick. (that's why you need to go back to a trainer) Once you are used to the new way... you will be glad you made the effort.
