Default Safety About LiPo Batteries Have Scared the "HELLI" Out of Me

I have been reading all the postings concerning LiPo batteries and they have Scared the "HELLI" Out of Me. I confess to being a newbie but a well read one. I check all the postings and have gotten a tremendous amount of help and info from all you "PROs!" and lest I forget - thanks to all of you.

Here's my situation:

I have Kokam LiPo's and Balsa Products wanna be Kokam LiPo's (2cell, 7.4v, 1200 mah for the Balsa and 1500 mah for the Kokams). I have a TENMA 13.8 VDC, 10-14A power supply, the Great Planes Triton Charger, the Triton Thermal Protection Module and today I ordered the NEW! KOKAM LI-PO SAFETY GUARD. Per postings I just bought a metal box with a lid (it's a about 8" x 5" x 6") and I am about to line it sheet rock.

First - Why am I lining the box with sheet rock???

Second - When I am charging the batteries, do I want to keep them in the box with the lid open or closed (make a hole to feed through the cable) and in any case, should the box have some ventilation holes (for battery storage)?

Thanks
