Default RE: Safety About LiPo Batteries Have Scared the "HELLI" Out of Me

Just reading your post has me scared. Not really. I don't understand the fear. If the battery is charged per instructions and inspected before each charge, there is nothing to fear. I'm a newbie myself and have not had any problems charging lipos with Astro 109 and Triton. I DO NOT exceed the 1C charge rate and use 1C for discharge rate as well. I DO charge in an area that won't catch on fire in case there is an accident (bathtub) and DO monitor frequently while on the charger.

I'm not saying to tuck them in with your kids at night, just that the lipo pack won't jump off the charger and bite your arm off.

Follow the instructions. Don't overcharge or charge at higher than 1C. Always monitor while charging.

I have one lipo pack (thundertiger 1200 2s) that got crushed pretty good in a crash. I saw it was crushed, set it aside all by itself and watched it for about 30 mins, checking temp with my temp guage every few mins. Didn't notice andy swelling, heating or any other adverse effects so continued to use. No problems.

Having a respect for the packs is good, fearing them is not. If the fear remains, sell the lipos and stick with nicd or nimh.
