Default Got schooled today

I havent had a lot of R/C experience, especially in the last 10 years or so. But, I got the bug again and went out and bought my Hyper7 which is a great car. I took it to the local lake to break in the engine and eventually started running it harder and harder. It seemed my car handled great and had awesome power. So today, I decided to take it to the local track for some practice.

There were 3 other guys there with 1/8 buggys, 10th scale trucks, and another guy also had a Mammoth monster truck, which I also have and brought with me. Man was I out to lunch! This track was very technical and kicked my behind! I couldnt keep the car straight to save my life. A kid with a Mugen was doing 3 laps to my 1. [&o] [&o][&o] Of course he works at the LHS, and probably lives at the track. Either way, these guys sent me to school. I really thought my buggy was ready to tear it up. But I realized after having a rough time finishing one lap without hitting anything, I need LOTS of practice and tuning skills.

There was also an oval there I had my Mammoth on, it was a blast, but again, handling was non-existant with my first time out with it at a track. The other Mammoth was spanking me too . But, his was modified and obviously used a lot. I dont know if Im ready for this racing thing or not. Looks like its going to take up a lot of my time to even get close to being competetive. Maybe if other noobs would have been there, it wouldnt have been so bad. But, the other guys were really cool and helpful. The kid with the Mugen got my Hyper .21 dialed and it had incredible throttle response, then my Airtronics FM reciever decided to self-destroy and I lost steering, so I was done.

All in all, it was fun, but boy did I learn I need a ton experience, and at 51, I dont have a whole lot of time left.
