Default Question about battery heat after a hard run

Hey guys, Mat again...

I've got a question based upon some experience with my past few runs, as well as from a friend's run with his RC10 buggy. For those who don't know yet, I've got a XXX-S with the Novak SS installed (love it!). On one of my most recent runs with it, I used your basic PowerMaxx 6-cell 2400mAh battery and ran the car HARD. When the run was over I removed the battery, and it was so damned hot that I couldn't hold on to it for more than a few seconds. Basically it was too hot to hold, but I was still able to juggle it between my hands without any pain, if that helps you understand.

Am I putting my battery and/or myself in danger with this situation? I've read before that it's quite alright if a battery gets pipin' hot when it is DIScharging, whereas getting hot while charging is the no-no.

Any inputs?
