Default Building a basic WattMeter

Hi,

I've seen several posts where people are looking for Watt Meters. I built a basic one and thought I would share it with you.

The one I built has a 25 amp panel meter (you may need larger or smaller) and input jacks for my meter to check the voltage. The key here is to get both the voltage and amp reading at the same time.

Once you have the Volts (E) and the Amps (I), you can multiply the "E" and "I" to get Watts (P).

I've included the formulae on the picture.

Be sure to plug input directly into the battery, the output should go to the equipment.

If you are not familiar with building electrical projects, ask a friend, as you don't want to short out your batteries, or put the meter in backwards.

Good Luck! Let me know how you make out.

Best regards,

Wayne Miller
