I haven't read that developer's message before (btw, where was it posted ?) but, as I stated before, I'm not interested in adaptor as I'm experienced enough to avoid adaptors because some works and most not, simply!
I dont' want to attack Afp, there're no reasons at all, what I say is that I could consider Afp only when it will be usb native...
