RE: u-can-do 60
Matt, good to see you are still with us. Have any pictures of the UCD? Would love to see, and good luck with the maiden flight.
Ken, I almost decided to go to Toledo, but my wife hurt a back playing tennis and has been ;laid up for over 5 weeks. Still may need surgery, but trying other things first. I will have to stay close to home for a while so no go on Toledo.
Joe and Rjaul, I would really like to see some pictures of what you guys are doing with these plates. I haven't ever used and would like to see how they work. I think I have the concept down, but a picture says a 1000 words.
Joe, I have the CG right on the hairy edge with the 10.5 ounces. I flew it with 9 ounces and it was noticeably tail-heavy. The only alternative I see is to maybe switch to a gasser later down the road, which I'm certain would allow me to remove most of the dead weight. I basically have the weight of a gasser now with the 1.60 and not the extra power. The plane really does fly well even with the weight and this engine. Not a 3-D machine by any means. I will fly as is for a while and if I become bored with it I will put a gasser in it.
Thanks all for the compliments on the plane.
