You can do it... What simulator are you using/intending to use? Most simulators sell cords and I would advise you to just buy one... If you are going to use it with FMS (free download) http://n.ethz.ch/student/mmoeller/fms/index_e.html they have instructions on how to make one but it sounds like a pain in the butt to me...
