Default 3ch or 2ch?

No, not neccesaraly.
The two channel and three channel planes will probably be the same, except the that the 3ch will probably have a throttle added to the other 2 channels , namely rudder and elevator. The two channel craft will just have rudder and elevator, and possibley a motor that stops when the batt. voltage gets to a certain level. With the three channel craft, you will probably be able to control the motor, this will save you some batt., if you don't fly at full throttle all the time.
Now you did not specify whether it is just a plane or glider or powered glider.
If it is a glider with rudder, elevator AND ailerons , it will be easier to get into trouble with . Just having rudder + elevator is perfect to learn on , the engine is just a way of getting up there.
Don't quote me on any of this, I am not sure what the 'e gull' and the 'thawk' are, but I hope this helps.

Good flying
