If done correctly, the forked pushrod is fine. People occasionally have problems with them from not following the instructions on getting tem bent to the correct angles and/or placing the control horns different than indicated on the plans. If you change the geometry you are likely to create problems.
Some people have troubl "threading" the forked rod into the fuselage. this can be cured by temporary use of nyrod sheath. You run the sheath in (don't glue it) and then stick the ends of the forked rod in the sheaths. ths will guide the rod ends through the fuselage and into the exit slots with ease.
