Two recommendations I have is to fiberglass the inside of the cowl as well as use fuel tubing as washers to retain cowl and canopy screws. Do you fly from a rough field? What you may have to do is change your approach and landing habits. I learned to fly with a Sukhoi which was very heavy. I use to fly at the AMA field in Muncie so most if not all of my landings are smooth but at a high rate of speed. I run out of room on most fields. What I do now is compress tubing on the axles to act like a brake. It helps but I still run out of runway from time to time.
