for a battle bots it deoends how man things you want to do, but a good futaba 8 or 9 channel one should do the trick
umm, yes it 'should' but you need every advantage that you can get. this means the most sophistocated radio control system. the type that most people use has two way comunication with the tx and rx. that way you can monitor the status of different systems and know if something is about to blow up and take your entire bot with it.
