I cut the holes for the servos so one leg of the servo screwed into the yardstick spar and I CA'd a ply plate under the other leg for the servo.
I don't see any reason you can't use regular control horns, as long as you have long enough screws. Possibly add a piece of light ply under them to spread out load.
