How did it sound like? Did you check if the low speed needle is set good? How about putting it on factory settings, and start tuning from there.

Maybe you know better, but sounds like its either too lean or too rich (low end needle). Try adjusting that.

Then check fuel lines, carb for leaks.. glow plug... the gas etc...

Just because the engine is running doesnt mean the glow plug is good, too me a while to figure that out
