In the views menu, hit the "Look at Ground" check mark. You can then keep track of the ground and can hit the runway every time. It turns off the auto-zoom..... (well, modifies it) and the ground will always be the bottom of the screen with the aircraft centered. Youmay find you need ot scale up the model.... don't scale it above 2X or it starts looking like its in slo motion and perspective gets wierd.
