I see you already went ahead and redrilled the holes.

As far as the landinggear block goes, I glued two hardwood blocks in the corners between the fusalage sides and bottom. The blocks are about 1"X3/4"X1/2". Sofar the landinggear has survived my less than perfect landings quite well.
