My glow stick (or igniter as you call it) lasts me for weeks and weeks, infact I've had it just over 6 months and charged it 3 times! That includes about 20 starts per session, with a session nearly every week! But mine is a 2500mA capacity!
One trick I use to check if it's charged up or not, is to use a small 2.2V bulb from a torch (flashlight). If it glows bright for several seconds the it's good to go, if it starts fading then it needs charging. Oviously, this isn't exactly "high tech" or very accurate, but it works. You could also just use an old glow plug (I use my bulb though because it won't burn your fingers!)
