Here is a thought. I broke one of mine and fixed it. When I broke it I pulled the metal piece out of the rubber. Clean it really well the go to the parts store and get some yellow 3M super weatherstrip adhesive. Put the 3M on it and then put a zip tie around the rubber to squeeze it into the metal. Mine has been through HE** and is still going fine. I would not recommend not using them.
