Default CH Jump Start… How does it work and how is it installed

captinjohn, INJUN_EAR is correct on the proprietary stuff. Intel doesn't share internal information on computer chips and Coca Cola doesn't publish the formula for Coke. On a smaller scale, but no less important, is CH's design of their ignition systems. This is a business to them and not a hobby.

Capacitive discharge ignition systems have been around for years. In the simplest terms an oscillator runs and is used in charging a capacitor which supplies voltage/current to an SCR. The SCR then is triggered to produce a current pulse into the primary of the high voltage transformer which in turn produces the spark. This is a simple concept but the technical design is what sets one system apart from another. I'm sure if you go to your local library, you should be able to find an EE type text book that will have a chapter on the subject.
