I got lucky last night
It was a nice evening here and the wife was out of the house for the evening. I thought I would head over to the field and get in a little stick time. It was nice having the field all to myself. But the problem was the wind. I am flying an Avistar with an OS 46AX. With a 11x4 prop at 3/4 throttle it would only move forward about 5mph when heading into the wind. When it came time to land it was really tough. I was lucky the only thing that broke was the needle valve bracket. But I am not exactly sure how that happened. I got hung in the wind and just made a slow landing, but the plane bounced and tipped over and killed the motor. I did not have any grass or mud in the needle valve and I did not land on the concrete runway. And the bracket was just snapped. It did not bend and there was not even a scratch on the screw for the valve. But the real kicker was as soon as I landed the wind completely died for the hour. Go figure.
