RE: .46 2 Cycle Recommendation
I will throw my engines int the mix.
I am running right now an "OLD" Super Tigre .45, Magnum .46, broke in and setup a GMS .47, 2 dead O.S. .46, It is a little out of the size range Magnum .52, Antique K&B .40, Sportster .40.
I have more hours and fuel through my old tigre then I care to think about. It still runs very good. It did have a rather long break in period though. The GMS I broke in was so tight I thought it was going to snap the connecting rod the first run. It turned into a screamer of an engine. The Magnum .46 was good right out of a box until I put a pitts muffler on it. The O.S. 's lost the shinny stuff on the in side.
With so many good engines out there, it is hard to choose. If you are not on a tight budget, Ervine, K&B .48. If you need to watch how much you spend, GMS, Super Tigre, Magnum.
Dru.
P.S. The Magnums have a rap for a rich mid range. If you have that problem check the low speed needle for any defects. They will send you a new one.
