Sounds like I need to get the Higley "Bipes" book.

The solid wood "N" struts sounds like a plan. I have another Miniplane, NIB, and I was thinking of doing "I" struts. Not scale, but so what I'll be modifying it a bit to make it look like a Reno Bipe, anyway.
