I have read all the tips and tricks about hovering:
1) rearward CG
2) Large diameter flat prop (12.25 x 3.75 is great)
3) High power-to-weight ratio
4) flaperons
5) right thrust

But the real secret is in the fuel. You have to use a lot of it.
