To my knowledge Thunder Tiger engines have always had nickel plated cylinders. They have been calling it composite to allow them to say ABC. They have a good plating process and have had very few bad liners. The only bad ones I have seen have been from foreign matter (dirt) getting in the engine and ruining the piston and sleeve.
