No, they don't bind easily. They are a very smooth design originally made by Losi.. What you have is a bent shock shaft. That isn't a design flaw, that's a maintenance issue. Take the shaft out, roll it on a flat table and you'll see I'm right. GENTLY whack it with a hammer to put it back straight. Or just buy a new one, your choice.
