Default Re-winding

I have a 16 turn single wind motor and want to change the number of turns to 10, now if i do this using the same guage magnet wire there will be less copper around each pole - in fact i belive that with careful placement of the turns i could fit 2 winds of the same guage wire so my question is this:
Is it better to use 1 wind of wire that is double the thickness of the original wire or 2 winds of the same guage wire that was on the armature originally ? ie, will there be less resistance with 2 winds or with a single wind ? Or would the resistance be equal either way?
I look forward to your replies
