If the transmitter uses PPM then you can use any brand PPM/FM receiver tuned at 72Mhz and any number of channels.

The Receiver crystal is matched to the receiver whether dual conversion or single conversion and even the brand (this has nothing to do with the transmitter besides the actual frequency which obviously needs to be the same)

PCM on the other hand needs to be matched to the brand and type of transmitter however it is much more reliable...
