Years ago, I put together a "Gentle Lady", from scratch, & it took me several enjoyable months to complete, but, I had less trouble with that kit, then I am having with this ARTF.

The tech writers assume a lot about the builder. It appears they are erring on the side of experienced builders instead of those new to RC.
